Can you believe the summer is over already!!! WOW!!
As I am writing this message, I feel that I am sending out a mixed/repeated message. Many of you got some of this information through a previous e-mail. However it is new to a few of you that we could not reach through e-mail. We have had a change here in our Chapter over the summer. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Randy Kline had to resign as President of the Akron Chapter. I want to thank Randy for his leadership. I have been elected to steer this ship and try to keep it on course. I want to start my term by saying that, I am honored to have been elected to serve as the President and I am going to do all that I can to reach my goal of making this chapter one of the BEST. As President of the Chapter, I feel like I'm sailing blind-folded in a fog unable to see if I'm on target to meet this goal. I need input from you - our members and friends - to be sure we are on target with presentations that are meaningful to you. What current topics are you interested in? Let us (your Board of Directors) know. We are only here to do what you ask. I am looking for suggestions, feedback and volunteers. Please respond to me via e-mail at AITPPres@aol.com.
We have a few new and returning committee people getting involved. Mary Jane Scruggs will fill the remainder of Jim Strong’s term as Director as Jim can no longer do it and has resigned. Mary Jane is also taking over the Awards Committee. Jackie Roth has agreed to be our Auditor this year, along with the great job she is doing as Membership Chair. Craig Purnell will take over the Newsletter and Publicity beginning next month. Jim Moore is our new Webmaster. Clarke Hoopes will assist on Programs. I want to thank each of them for their positive response to my plea for help. I also want to thank the committee people who are continuing to dedicate their time to the Chapter each month. I still need some more folks to come forward and be willing to help. If you would be willing to serve on any committee, please let me know. You get more out of an organization when you put more into it. The more people that are involved, the more synergy we have, and so much more can be accomplished.
Our Web Site has been updated. It had gotten out of date during the past year and we apologize for that. Please go there and look around. Let Jim Moore know what you think. His e-mail address is JamesLMoore@zoominternet.net.
This newsletter is being sent via e-mail to all the folks who got the sample one last month and have remained as subscribers. The new newsletter chairman will be sending it out beginning next month.
The IT Community is designed to be the first place our clients go to find easy access to information so they can better balance cost, quality and value as they perform their jobs. Therefore, we as IT professionals must keep in touch with the pace of innovations occurring in the IT industry, so we can assist these clients. AITP is one of the best places to get this information. Remember too, that our Akron AITP Chapter is a good place to make new contacts within our field and find out what other companies are doing that works well and what doesn’t within IT. You just might get a great idea that you can take back and use at your job. AITP is a group of IT professionals that come together from many different companies to interact and learn. Just think about what you might miss if you don’t attend.
This month we are taking this show on the road! We are going to tour the UPS Distribution Hub in Brecksville. It should be interesting and informative. Please try to join us. It would be great to have you along. To sign up for the tour, contact our Program Chairman, David Lisle at LISLE@ferro.com.
