Text Box:      I recently read, "As soon as you become proficient, the system is upgraded." We, as IT professionals, know how true that is. We need to keep upgrading our skills to become/stay proficient in the ever-changing IT world. Another new year is here. We probably all made some new year’s resolutions. Did you remember to make one to improve your skills? If not, you might want to add that one now – its not too late. The important thing is that after you make the commitment, work it. Let AITP help you reach your IT goals by attending the monthly meetings to keep up with information about the fast changing technologies. The Chapter Board of Directors welcomes your suggestions for program topics that would be interesting to you. We are here for the benefit of our members. One of our goals is to offer programs that are of interest or benefit to you – our members. We have an exciting calendar of programs coming up this year. Remember, you get more out of an organization by putting more into it – get involved. What an excellent way to showcase your contributions, ideas, and initiatives to the IT profession! Another item that I feel is very important is the Region 18 Spring Conference, which will be in Williamsburg, VA, March 20 – 22. There is an impressive list of speakers for this event. Remember, this is a benefit of being a member of AITP. Please try to attend. For more information take a look at www.aitp-hr.com/conference or contact one of our chapter board members. This year will be an exciting year for the Akron Chapter. It is our 50th anniversary year and we are planning some special activities. We are also trying to locate our "missing" past members. If you are a past member or know of someone else who is, be sure we have information on how to contact you/them for a very special program this fall. See the article in this newsletter on how to do that. Our meeting this month is January 28, 2003 with a presentation on "Internet Addiction" by William S. Miller. Mr. Miller is a full time doctoral intern at the Northeast Ohio College of Medicine. I know this will be an interesting program and I would like to see you there.
