Text Box: Do you know where in the world you will be tomorrow, and do you know what your job will be in the future? In the IT hustle will you get lost in the shuffle? I don’t have the answer to these questions any more than you do. However, the 11th annual Region 18 Leadership Retreat is coming soon. Now is the time to register. The theme this year is "Do the IT Hustle." Learn the "Leaders Dance of The Future." The IT H (Habits) U (Universal) S (Staying Power) T (Teaching) L (Learning) E (Education)! Here is an opportunity to develop your potential, to interact with your peers, and to learn valuable skills that leaders need. See the article in this newsletter for more information and mark your calendars!
Another opportunity to ‘look to the future’ is being offered this month at our Chapter meeting. We are presenting a combined meeting with the Stark State and Malone College student chapters. What a great time to get out and meet the future IT leaders in an informal setting. I remember several years ago when I was a student member of DPMA (now AITP), and I had the chance to meet you, the professionals. It was a memorable experience. The student chapter advisors will be attending too. Lets let them know that we appreciate all that they do to promote AITP. I appreciated all the effort that my advisor (our late chapter member, Darius Rastomji) put into making DPMA important. If not for his guidance, I would not be writing this today.
While we are looking forward, it is also good to look to our past. Next month, our Akron Chapter will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. We have invited many past members who have contributed to its growth. More information will be coming, but please mark your calendar to attend our celebration. We have a great speaker coming too.
Our meeting this month will be at Brehme Centennial Center – Deuble Room, Malone College, Canton, OH on Tuesday, September 30. Be sure to note the change of location. Our speaker will be Thomas B. McNamara, President, Symmetry Systems Incorporated. His talk will be on "What is it they haven’t told me about IT?"
Our future – where will we be in ten years? I don’t have the answer to that question, but I am going to get out to meet the future leaders this month, and increase my proficiency as a leader by attending the Leadership retreat in November. Please join me. I hope to see you there.
